We understand that the solar process can seem complicated. Our experts are here to guide you through the process from start to finish!
Solar panels collect and harness energy from the sun. Solar panels are made up of photovoltaic cells (sometimes called PV). These cells are made up of materials that convert sunlight to electrical energy.
Solar panels can be used individually, but are most often connected together in strings to form a photovoltaic array. These arrays are then interconnected to the electrical grid to form a complete PV system.
Solar panels are just one part of a solar system. Systems also include mounting hardware to attach the panels to your roof and point your panels toward the sun. Systems also include inverters which are used to convert solar energy (DC Power) into the correct form of electrical energy that can be used in your home (AC Power).
PV systems either have a string inverter that converts the electricity harnessed from all of the panels together, or microinverters that are attached to each individual panel 1:1. String inverters are less expensive, and can be more easily serviced or replaced when needed. Microinverters allow for independent monitoring and operation of each panel, which can be useful if some modules may be shaded, for example. Microinverters have the added benefit of allowing you to easily add on in the future and offer more seamless options for battery backup.
Not every home is well suited for solar, but the vast majority are. Here are some considerations we look for when assessing whether your home is suitable for solar:
This program is subject to approval through the Canad Greener Homes Initiative (credit check and proof of income required). Customer is responsible for the application.
Elegibility (June 17, 2022):
Please note, the application and energy assessment process can take 1-4 months, depending on current application volume.
This federal program allows you to make the switch to solar with 0% financing over ten years - plus a grant of up to $5,000 using the Canada Greener Homes Initiative (credit check and proof of income required). Customer is responsible for the application.
Please note, the application and energy assessment process can take 1-4 months, depending on current application volume.
We are preferred partners with the program, and we take care of this application for you. There are no prerequisites, pre-approvals, or length wait times. We can even take the rebate directly off the cost of your system and apply for the final rebate on your behalf once we are finished installing your solar system.
