Common Repairs we perform on Ductless Heat Pumps in Halifax
There are several common issues we see with ductless heat pumps. Below is an overview of the more common service issues we tend to receive calls for and provide service and repair.
Refrigerant Leaks
If your machine is currently blowing air but it isn’t as warm (or cool) as you think it should be, there’s a good chance that you may be low on refrigerant. This means your heat pump is unable to absorb and transfer as much heat as it once did. Before you book a service call for this issue, be sure to check that your indoor unit filters are clean, as this can also be the culprit for this issue.

Coil Replacements
Closely related to a refrigerant leak, coils can become damaged and reduce the amount of heating or cooling your machine can produce. We are fully equipped to replace all makes and models of coils for both indoor and outdoor units.
Indoor Unit Maintenance
Clogged filters, or worse, dirt and grime build up inside the indoor unit, can cause havoc with the quality of heating and coiling your machine produces. This is primarily due to improper air flow through the indoor unit. Sometimes this can be solved with a heat pump deep clean, which we can provide.
Fan Motor Replacements
If your indoor or outdoor unit is making a strange sound, or the outdoor unit fan is no longer working, this could be caused by a broken fan motor. These can break down over time, or snow and ice build up around the outdoor unit can also cause them to fail. Call us for an assessment on your unit to determine the cause.

Ductless Heat Pump Issues
The most common issues we see with ductless mini split heat pumps are either they aren’t turning on at all, which there is often an error code, or the unit is not producing enough or any heat.
Both of these issues most often will require us to schedule a diagnostic visit to your home for one of our technicians to run some tests. If the error is something that can be fixed on site, we will take care of it right at that time. If parts or other materials are required we will schedule a second visit to complete the repair for you to get your heat pump back up and running.
